1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the KDBS Open Data Platform (the "Platform"), operated by the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics ("KDBS", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the Platform.

2. Use of the platform

The Platform is provided to enable access to official statistical data from Kaduna State government agencies. You may use the Platform for:

• Personal, educational, and non-commercial research purposes.
• Journalistic and public interest reporting.
• Policy analysis, development planning, and academic research.
• Integration into applications that do not misrepresent the data or its source.

Commercial use of data obtained from the Platform is permitted under the terms of the applicable dataset licence. You must always attribute the source as KDBS and the respective publishing MDA.

3. Data access and licensing

Datasets published on the Platform are made available under the licences specified on each dataset's detail page. Unless otherwise stated, publicly available datasets are released under an open data licence that permits free use, redistribution, and adaptation with attribution.

4. User accounts and publishing responsibilities

Registered users who publish data on the Platform ("MDA Focal Persons") are responsible for:

• Ensuring that datasets submitted are accurate, complete, and verified.
• Obtaining necessary approvals within their MDA before publishing.
• Not publishing data that contains personal information without appropriate consent and legal basis.
• Promptly correcting or removing any data found to be erroneous.
• Maintaining the security of their account credentials and not sharing them with others.

KDBS reserves the right to suspend or remove any account that violates these responsibilities.

5. Prohibited activities

You must not use the Platform to:

• Upload, submit, or distribute data that is false, misleading, or fraudulent.
• Publish personal data (names, ID numbers, financial records, health records, etc.) without a lawful basis and appropriate anonymisation.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to restricted areas of the Platform or other users' accounts.
• Introduce malware, viruses, or harmful code of any kind.
• Use automated scraping tools in a manner that disrupts normal Platform operation.
• Reproduce or represent KDBS data as your own original work without attribution.

6. Data accuracy disclaimer

While KDBS makes every effort to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data published on the Platform, we cannot guarantee that all data is free from errors. Datasets are published by individual MDAs who retain responsibility for the accuracy of their submissions.

KDBS accepts no liability for any decisions, actions, or losses arising from reliance on data obtained from this Platform. Users are encouraged to verify critical data with the originating MDA before acting on it.

7. Intellectual property

The Platform software, design, branding, and user interface are the property of KDBS and its technology partners. The underlying data is the property of the respective publishing MDAs and is governed by Kaduna State government regulations.

You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the Platform software or branding without written permission from KDBS.

8. Changes to these terms

KDBS reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Platform following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
